And Away We Go – Twitterview #1 – Chuck Westbrook
As this is the first Twitterview (there are several more to be posted in the coming days) posted I wanted to again point out a couple of things
- Doing a Twitterview is extremely simple and hopefully a way for us to share some knowledge.
- I ask the questions in 140 characters or less and the responses must be in the same 140 characters or less
- I choose from a base of questions surrounding social media, digital marketing etc and have asked some of the same questions to multiple people to get various responses. Where this is the case I will try to link to some of the other responses.
- A huge thank you to all the people that have participated thus far and a call to those who would be willing to participate. I hope we will learn from one another.

1) Wired has come out and said that non-pro blogging is dead – Do you agree? Is that a reason for micro-blogging’s growth?
- I’d argue the opposite: Amateur blogging stands to have a renaissance as search and tools like Wordpress grow more user-friendly and smart
2) When do you cross the line between sharing your information (blog post, new web site etc) and being the annoying guy?
- Just strike a balance–also respond, follow, and add value. I’m more annoyed by sheer volume of tweets than I am by measured self-promotion.
3) What piece of software, web 2.0 or other tool are people only now starting to pick up that you think will become a mainstay
- Apps that use geo-location. Connecting the virtual world with the real world and using that connection to add value will win even resistors.
4) Economy stinks, companies are tightening budgets – How can they track ROI to get hard metrics on social media?
- This is a weak answer, but they might be best off by tracking fan mail, discussions, sourced innovation and usability ideas–that has value.
5) Are we crossing a dangerous line with “iReporters” delivering news via social media before it is validated?
- There will probably be some abuse and mistakes made along the way, but in the end, the problems with verification and proof will be solved.
As always comments and thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Comment by Jessica Gottlieb on 30 October 2008:
Absolutely brilliant idea.
Now why do I feel compelled to check the number of characters in my comment?
Comment by Oktober Five on 30 October 2008:
Jessica, comments should definitely be held to 140 characters or less. Where’s the counter?
Comment by Michael on 30 October 2008:
That is actually an absolutely fabulous idea…I will put on my php hat (or borrow someone elses) and look into it.
Thanks to all!!!
