Twitterview #10 – Christopher Penn
A double whammy of really smart guys today (hello to all the smart ladies in the audience, would love to Twitterview with you) as I add Christopher’s interview to the earlier posting of Tac Anderson’s. I really enjoyed this interview with Chris especially his answer to Question #1.
As always I am looking for people to twitterview so please suggest people here.

1) Wired has come out and said that non-pro blogging is dead – Do you agree? Is that a reason for micro-blogging’s growth?
- Wired is desperate for attention to boost falling circulation numbers. Baiting blogging is the easy solution.
2) What is the one digital marketing technique people ignore to their detriment? Or What are they doing they should stop now??
- The database. Look at how Team Obama won the election and it was all data, all the time, using right channels for right tactics.
3) When do you cross the line between sharing your information (blog post, new web site etc) and being the annoying guy?
- Depends on what your audience wants. Ignore their needs at your peril.
4) Is there such thing as a traditional Press Release any more? Does the social media release have the legs to replace traditional PR?
- There is, but it’s a press release direct to consumers. David Meerman Scott does this well in his book, New Rules of Marketing/PR.
5) Are we moving dangerously close to blurring the line between reported news and reported rumor?
- Information verification and validation is indeed more important than ever. Look at the CNN iReport/Apple CEO rumor bomb.
